Conscientious Objector
A true story of an American patriot and soldier who, though he refused to carry a weapon, was awarded the Medal of Honor for his acts of bravery during World War II. The Conscientious Objector explores the nature of Desmond T. Doss’ heroism and searches out survivors of the 77th Infantry Division who were witness to Doss' actions and rescues. For the first time in 56 years, these men reunite with their humble Army medic on the very soil of his amazing story – the Maeda Escarpment in Okinawa, Japan.

Director Terry Benedict
A Midwesterner, Terry Benedict graduated from Pepperdine University. In Hollywood he worked with cinematographers Haskell Wexler and Conrad Hall. He was an assistant director of the stunt unit for the first "Terminator" movie and modeled for clothiers Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. His first film, “Painted Hero,” won several film festival awards for “Best Indy Dramatic Feature.”  After Benedict’s second screenplay had gone into development, he decided to produce and direct a documentary of his boyhood hero, Desmond Doss. Benedict was personally honored for his work with the coveted Crystal Heart Award, and the Humanitarian Award.
