Heartland Film Festival's First Annual Golf Classic to Tee Off on April 27 at Brickyard Crossing

April 9, 2007

What if you could combine your love of movies and your love of golf into a single, memorable afternoon? Indiana residents are invited to tee it up while supporting a local film festival’s effort to showcase inspiring films at Heartland Film Festival’s First Annual Golf Classic on Friday, April 27 at the Brickyard Crossing.

It’d be hard to script a better afternoon. Participants will enjoy 18 holes of golf on one of the city’s premier golf courses, lunch, a dinner buffet, cocktails and the chance to win prizes. The day will also include silent and live auctions featuring event tickets, jewelry, gourmet gift baskets, travel and sports packages, and hotel and restaurant gift certificates as well as the opportunity to meet Extra TV correspondent Carlos Diaz, who is scheduled to attend and participate in the classic.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Brickyard Crossing for our inaugural golf classic,” said Jeffrey L. Sparks, President and CEO of Heartland Film Festival. “We hope many people will join us for a spectacular day on the links and an opportunity to help us continue to honor visionary filmmakers and beautifully made films that bring out the best of the human spirit.”

Event festivities kick off at 11:00 a.m. with registration, gift pick-up, lunch and an auction preview. A shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. will commence the scramble as golfers tee off. Cocktails, dinner and the silent and live auctions will follow the scramble at 5:30 p.m. Members of the first, second and third place foursomes will receive gift certificates to the Brickyard Crossing Pro Shop. Participants will also compete for great prizes in hole-in-one, longest drive, closest to the hole and longest putt contests.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Heartland Film Festival.

Space for individuals or teams of four as well as master hole and hole sponsorships is still available. For more information or to register, contact Claire Brosman at 317/464-9405 or visit www.HeartlandFilmFestival.org.

BitWise Solutions, Inc., Brickyard Crossing, Bright House Networks, C & C Realty Co., Chancellor Financial, Forum Credit Union, The Husselman Family, Indy Saab and Saab of Fishers, Michigan Road Self Storage, The Monson Family Foundation, Omni Severin, three-sixty group and WYJZ 100.9 FM are among the sponsors helping make the event possible.

Heartland Film Festival, a non-profit organization, was established in 1991 to recognize and honor filmmakers whose work explores the human journey by artistically expressing hope and respect for the positive values of life. Each October, Heartland screens independent films from around the world and presents $200,000 in cash prizes and Crystal Heart Awards to the Festival’s top entries. This includes a $100,000 Grand Prize for Best Dramatic Feature, a $25,000 Award for Best Documentary Feature and a $10,000 Vision Award for Best Short Film. The remaining $65,000 is shared among the Crystal Heart and Jimmy Stewart Memorial Crystal Heart Award winners. Heartland has awarded more than $1.6 million in 15 years to support filmmakers in their quest to create films that bring out the best of the human spirit.
